For parents: the questions we hear most
Choosing where your child studies is a big decision. Here is how we help you feel sure about it.
Is it affordable?
Our flagship guides show tuition, living costs and visa funds with sources and a last-checked date, so you can plan the full budget before you commit. Ask us about scholarships and other funding options.
Will my child be supported abroad?
We help with housing, local transport and settling-in advice, and we help you compare cities and areas to live in before you choose.
Is the visa process clear?
Funds and rules change often. Our guides state the current requirement and the date we checked it, and we review your documents before you apply.
How do we avoid scams?
Never pay anyone who guarantees admission or a visa. Check every university and visa rule on its official website, and ask any consultant, including us, to explain how a recommendation was made.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to what students and parents ask us first.
How do I choose the right country?
Start with your budget, your course and what you want after graduation. Compare the cost tables and work rules in our city guides, then talk to a counsellor to turn a long list into a shortlist that fits your grades and goals.
When should I start planning?
Ideally 10 to 12 months before your intake. That leaves time for tests, applications, funding and the visa. Some routes have earlier deadlines, for example Oxford and Cambridge applications through UCAS close on 15 October.
How much money will I need to show for a visa?
It differs by country and is updated often. For example, the UK rate changes on 30 November 2026 and France raised its requirement on 1 August 2026. Each guide lists the current figure with the date we checked it.
Can I work while studying?
In most destinations yes, within limits. For example: UK 20 hours a week at degree level, Canada 24 hours a week off campus, Ireland 20 hours a week in term (40 in holidays), France 964 hours a year, the Netherlands 16 hours a week, and Germany 140 full days a year. Always check the official rules for your visa.
How do I avoid fake agents and scams?
Never pay anyone who guarantees a visa or admission. Confirm offers directly with the university, check visa rules on the official government site, and be careful with rooms you have not viewed. A good consultant will show you where their advice comes from.
What does counselling include?
Course and university shortlisting, profile building and application support, scholarship and funding guidance, visa document review, and pre-departure and settling-in advice.
